As the UIC Counseling Center Psychiatrist, I:

  • discuss diagnostic impressions with all patients while having a sensitive and diverse mindset regarding individual needs
  • order labs when necessary
  • recommend medications, if appropriate
  • discuss risks, benefits, and alternative methods of treatment which will accommodate each patient and their needs
  • enact an encompassing and integrative effort to make sure the patient fully understands their available options
  • recommend lifestyle modifications to achieve optimal health, if appropriate
  • work as a team with the patient’s therapist
  • possibly communicate with other healthcare or treatment providers to better establish a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs (with the patient’s consent)
