What to Expect When Working with Me Heading link
In therapy, I focus on a strengths-based, client-centered approach where I hope to foster a safe, non-judgmental, and accepting stance when working with clients. I know therapy can be a new territory for many individuals, and I aim to meet clients where they are comfortable as we embark on a collaborative journey to achieve any goals they may have. I prefer to operate within holistic lens to acknowledge the unique aspects of the individual within a larger systemic framework. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques for short term therapy. I enjoy incorporating mindfulness-based interventions when appropriate in recognizing the importance of emotional and physical regulation within the mind-body connection. I continuously work under the supervision of Dr. Sakina Ali, PsyD. and engage in consultation with other experienced clinicians at UIC’s counseling center to further develop my clinical skills.
