Brian Griffith (he/him/his) is a post-doctoral fellow here at UIC. He found his passion in mental health while working with people of color and queer folks. Prior to coming to the field of mental health, he worked in public health doing HIV prevention work with queer young people. After transitioning into mental health, he has had practicum experiences at Pepperdine’s West Los Angeles Clinic, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and the University of Southern California. He did his internship at Northwestern’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Brian’s theoretical orientation is a blend of humanistic, person-centered, and multicultural approaches. Brian’s professional interests include holistic approaches to therapy, working with oppression and marginalized communities, and somatic/ embodied healing work. His dissertation is an examination of psychosocial interventions to reduce HIV transmission rates in Black and Latino men.
