Internship Program Admissions Heading link
Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing their likely fit with your program. This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academic preparation requirements: |
---|
Applicants are invited from doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology. Strong applicants have an interest in the range of activities conducted at the Counseling Center. The program emphasizes a multicultural perspective in all aspects of clinical and professional work; experience working with adults and interest in multicultural populations are preferred. Former clients of the Counseling Center are not considered for training in order to minimize dual role complications and potential conflicts of interest. Selection criteria are based broadly upon perceived goodness of fit between the internship's offerings and requirements and the candidate's qualifications, interests, and potential for benefiting from and contributing to the program. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology and must have approval by their academic training program, verifying readiness for internship. Applicants must have successfully completed their doctoral comprehensive exams by the application deadline and must have their dissertation proposal approved by the ranking deadline. |
