Applications are invited from graduate students in doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology. Applicants are expected to have significant prior practicum experience in psychotherapy, with a minimum of 500 intervention hours by the application deadline. Strong applicants have an interest in the range of activities conducted at a Counseling Center, including group therapy and outreach programming. In addition, experience working with adults and interest in multicultural populations are preferred. Former clients of the Counseling Center are not considered for training in order to minimize dual role complications and potential conflicts of interest.
Selection criteria are based broadly upon perceived goodness of fit between the internship's offerings and requirements and the candidate's qualifications, interests, and potential for benefiting from and contributing to the program. An APA-accredited academic psychology program is a requirement.
The application process for the 2016-2017 internship year is completely on-line (See the APPIC website,www.natmatch.com/psychint/ for more details). All application materials must be uploaded via the applicant portal on the APPIC website. The Center conforms to APPIC Match Policies regarding internship applications, interviews and decisions, including the stipulation that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information from an intern applicant. We will not accept paper or emailed materials.
**Applications due date: November 4, 2015 by 11:59PM CST.
All interviews are conducted via skype/phone with an optional open house in mid January. Attendance at the open house is not expected and it does not improve an applicant's final ranking. All applicants will be notified by December 14 of their status regarding interviews. Interviews will take place the first half of January.
Our program's Code Number with the National Matching Service is 126711.
